Nasal COVID-19 Vaccine

Since March 11th, when WHO had declared the Covid-19 infection as a pandemic, there has been a global race towards developing a vaccine. Currently few vaccines have received approval for emergency use and countries are doing their best to vaccinate their respective population.

Neurology: Epilepsy Management

Epilepsy is the most common neurological condition characterized by recurrent spontaneous seizures. The ultimate goal is to achieve seizure-freedom with minimum side effects. Partial seizures involving one hemisphere of the brain usually present with no loss of consciousness.

Diagnosis of partial epilepsy depends on EEG findings, clinical picture, history and physical, laboratory data, and imaging studies. Despite the fact that over the past years patients with epilepsy have the ability to be on newer anti-epileptic regimens, about a third of patients will be refractory to the pharmacological therapy.

Telemedicine

Healthcare access is a challenge that faces medical professionals across all specialties and this is particularly more evident with advanced services offered in tertiary and quaternary centers. This was aggravated, further, during the COVID-19 Pandemic with the implementation of strict lock down mandates, ‘social distancing’ practices and firm screening processes to contain the spread of the disease. As a result, the number of patients following in the outpatients dropped significantly.
